Taking the Lead

Steve Ledwell & Ledwell Team

Ledwell has undergone some major accomplishments in the span of its life. For example, last November, Texarkana College built and dedicated a new workforce building on their campus to Betty and Buddy Ledwell. This was in major part due to the community-wide need for experienced and educated workforce members. The college offers classes for construction, electronics, electrical and industrial maintenance programs. Helping to shape the future workforce to gain valuable skills is beneficial to not only the students but the organizations in the community who will hire those individuals. In their June Issue, Rental Management acknowledge the company for their community efforts, spanning between its launch in 1946 and now. Juan Moya

Ledwell Employee Spotlight - June 2019

Juan Moya is a multifaceted individual with a lot of hobbies and a lot of drive. He works in our Paint Shop as a Painter – something he always wanted to be as a kid. In fact he says, “If you do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” He is very positive about life and about his career. Given any opportunity to move out of Paint Body and into another department, he would stay right where he’s at. During his 11 years here, Juan has helped Ledwell with many innovative strategies and design, which is one of Juan’s favorite things about Ledwell. He loves painting custom products and providing a top quality job.

Juan has a wife, Ana, and two daughters, Karen and Ingrid, who he enjoys spending his free time with. They like to watch movies and play games together whenever they can. Juan loves being outdoors. He also boxes, and won the Golden Glove Tourney for it.

He says throughout his career here at Ledwell, he has gained an abundance of experience and knowledge, which helps him put his best foot forward everyday. His job is a perfect fit for him, and we are so proud to call him a Ledwell employee. Way to go, Juan!

Wine in the Pines

Texarkana Wine Festival

What’s one thing to be treasured about a town with enthusiastic, motivated people? They get the job done, and they do it for anyone in need. The thing about the Texarkana community is that they’re always willing to come together for a good cause, and they always make it a good time. For five years now, Texarkana’s Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State Area has put together an elegant, but fun filled festival at Spring Lake Park- Jive for Five Twice as Fine Wine! As usual, the festival took place on the first Saturday of May this year (May 4th) and proved to be an artist, foodie, and wine enthusiast day of delight, with all proceeds benefiting Alzheimer’s Alliance.

The greatest thing about the wine festival is its aptitude for bringing different tastes together and introducing new elements to the people of town. This year, 26 wineries from all over Texas and a series of local restaurants and creatives wowed the crowd with their selections of art. Supporting and experiencing our communities talents is a necessary goal anyone should have. For the town to thrive, the individuals must thrive and that’s why events like this one are so important – not to mention that all of the earnings went to a good cause in support of those local friends.

Celebrating 10 Years: Ledwell Machinery

Ledwell Machinery is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! The team observed this huge accomplishment in March during their annual open house. The guys served burgers to all those who came and got a chance to show their appreciation for the community. There was a turnout of around two-hundred people, and they couldn’t have been more excited to share the special occasion with every single attendee. For as long as Ledwell Machinery has been around, they’ve always put the needs of their customers first.

 

Ledwell has been a Bobcat dealer since 1966, but the opportunity to incorporate more outdoor equipment helped launch Ledwell Machinery. Keep your cool on the job

Ledwell manufactured Water Truck spraying

The impending dry season means more dust, dirt, and heat all around. What you need is a Water Truck – but not just any water truck, a Ledwell Water Truck. Our equipment is built to your custom needs, size and all, but Ledwell also offers a few standard features. All our trucks have lined interiors designed to prevent rusting and corrosion. We use a coating thickness of up to 20 millimeters, ensuring your unit longevity. They all also come with three fill options (top fill, hose fill, or hydrant fill) and in-cab air controls.

But we know that you don’t always need the ‘standard’ equipment. That’s why we offer a wide range of interchangeable options for you. A couple of these consist of our sparger bars and water cannon. With these, you can extend the range of your water blasts and increase reach, output and ability. These custom-made options are great for a wide range of applications, from race tracks to street cleaning. Our sparger bars come in various configurations and placement options – either stationary or folding on the front and rear side of your water truck.

But, if you’re looking for maneuverability and long reaching streams, you might want to see about our water cannons. The movement of this attachment is completely controlled by you with an in-cab joystick control and its upward placement atop the unit gives its output the gift of distance.

Join the Race

Ledwell Teams at Bringle Lake

Building a strong, educated community is the first stepping stone to creating a safe, supportive environment for future generations. It takes a lot of effort and encouragement sometimes for individuals to flourish, and that’s what Texarkana’s Dragon Boat Festival is all about. This year, Wadley Regional Medical Center is presenting this event, benefiting HandsOn Texarkana, an organization that offers volunteer opportunities and group education across multiple topics. Their goal is to inspire the community and increase local contributions to those areas in need. To learn more about their mission, visit their site.

If you’re looking for a fun way to contribute to their cause, then look no further! This year’s Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Bringle Lake Park on May 18, starting at 9 am and ending around 4 pm. All you need is 20 participants. There will be food, music, and fun for the whole family! Bring a lawn chair, kick back, and root for your favorite team alongside your cohorts.

Ledwell Employees will be competing on two different teams – The Boggy Creek Monsters and The Bootleggers, both named after classic films produced by L. W. Ledwell. Last year, our teams did an outstanding job, winning in two different categories. Our main goal is to have fun, and support those around us with family fun and friendly competition.

Keep it moving

Who doesn’t love when a work day goes smoothly? We do! Fortunately, there are easy ways to make sure that happens, no matter what piece of equipment your using. One consistency across the board, no matter the task at hand, is the need for proper lubrication. Greasing important components can lower the risk of your day being interrupted by machinery malfunctions.

Without greasing, your equipment cannot move properly. Gears will grind, landing gear will stiffen, and so much more. This could end up costing you or your employer a lot of time, money, and grief. The lifespan of your unit could be dwindled down from years to months. Each piece of equipment is different. That’s why it is so important to read your manual for lubrication points, tips and tricks. If you’re not sure, you can always give us a call or check our resources section.

To tackle this preemptively, Ledwell has a wide range of preventative maintenance articles, social media posts, and printed literature to help you understand your equipment and maintain it the right way. Bobby Krewson

Ledwell Employee Spotlight - May 2019

Bobby works in Ledwell’s Shipping Department, and has since his first day back in 2007. He’s one of the very dependable guys that gets your Ledwell parts and products to you on time. He prides himself in punctuality – a very important trait to have here at Ledwell. He understands that your time is very important and loves being able to help any way he can. Bobby always has a happy demeanor and will always greet you with big smile, no matter the day. He’s always a “yes sir, no sir” kind of guy and will get the job done as quickly as possible.

In his spare time, Bobby loves riding four-wheelers and spending time with his family. When he isn’t doing that, he’s watching his favorite show – NCIS. Bobby is a really great guy, and great fit for our team. We’re lucky to have you, Bobby!
